10月28日19：00，4688美高梅集团唯一网站检测以“商言辩四海，铮语论五洲”为主题的新生辩论赛开幕式在第一教学楼103教室开展。本次新生辩论赛由超群演讲协会和4688美高梅集团唯一网站检测辩论队联合承办，校辩论队队长罗佳祺、16级辩论队任慧、4688美高梅集团唯一网站检测学习部部长胡刚、超群演讲协会社长曹湘斌、4688美高梅集团唯一网站检测辩论队队长王思语、17级辩论队谢琪受邀参加开幕式。
“对于经济类专业的学生来说，口才是至关重要的，我们开展辩论的目的是为了提高同学们的辩论意识以及批判性思维，掌握辩论技看巧待事物也会比以前更加全面。”开幕式正式启动之前，首先由曹湘斌就本次比赛的主题与商院新生发展的紧密联系进行陈述，他从辩论的必要性及重要性两方面着手，阐述了什么是辩论，鼓励在场观众积极参与本次辩论赛。
随后罗佳祺、任慧分与王思语分别介绍了辩论的礼仪、技巧以及新生辩论赛的赛制和比赛流程。同时，她们欢迎在场的观众提出疑问并热心一一解答。提问环节过后由各班队长到讲台前抽取辩论赛辩题， 并根据抽到的序号公布对手与辩题，同学们热情参与，场面十分热闹。
问及对本次新生辩论赛的看法，18级会计3班的陈曦蕾表示：“我觉得这次商院的新生辩论赛对于新生来说是一次很好的锻炼机会。一方面，它有助于加强我们对专业知识的了解，对我们以后的发展方向也有很强的指导作用。另一方面，此次辩论赛也给予了商学院各专业的同学相互认识相互交流的机会。”
